Welcome Back

Hello Fitzmorris Community,

As your new principal I could not be more excited to bring our community back together, in-person, at Fitzmorris. A Colorado and Jefferson County native, I grew up walking to our neighborhood elementary and middle school and graduated from Bear Creek High School. I am proud to have spent my school years and my fourteen years as an educator within Jefferson County Public Schools. The impact of community on my own educational journey is now foundational to me as a leader as I know the difference partnership makes for our students.

In addition to being a school leader, two of my most treasured roles are that of wife and mother. My husband, Brian, and our three children, Braden (7.5), Braxton (6) and Ashlyn (18 months) live in the Green Mountain area and the boys are Jeffco students. As a mom I deeply empathize with how difficult these past 18 months have been for our children and families as we have navigated school and life during a global pandemic. I would also like to recognize our school staff who did the unimaginable while simultaneously doing what they do best - ensuring that students were cared for and learning amidst unprecedented times. As we start this school year, even with some health protocols still in place, I know the staff at Fitzmorris is ready and committed to ensuring an amazing learning experience for your child(ren).

I vividly remember being twenty-three years old and welcoming my first class of kindergartners. As I looked out at twenty-six kindergartners sitting on the carpet, the true magnitude of my responsibility as an educator sunk in. It was imperative that I ensure every one of those beautiful and unique little humans felt belonging in our classroom community. I became keenly aware of how important it was that each student was challenged and supported, and that they grew academically, socially and emotionally. I sat there truly humbled that each student's family had trusted their child to my care each and every day.  It was a profound moment and one that anchors me daily as an educator and leader as you entrust your child(ren) to us.

This school year we will remain focused on the whole child ensuring we provide the very best academic and social emotional experience for each student. In addition, our licensed staff will be engaging in literacy training and implementing our new curricular resource, Wit and Wisdom. In math, we will build upon our work last year with our curricular resource, Eureka. We will continue to use the 7 Mindsets for our social emotional learning and support our community through the use of restorative practices. We are committed to collaborating together as educators to best meet the needs of every student. We believe all students can learn at high levels and we are here to provide the support and positive learning environment necessary to GROW.
